FICA (Goiás, BRAZIL)

 The City of Goiás becomes every FICA, on a big stage now live for the 15th edition of the International Festival of Environmental Film and Video which will take place from 02 to 07 July 2013.

Conceived by Luiz Felipe Gabriel, Jaime Sautchuk, Adnair France and Luis Gonzaga, the It emerged in 1999 as a framework for a new era of culture in Goiás, under the overall coordination of filmmaker Joao Batista de Andrade. A little over two months from the date of its realization (2 to 6 June 1999), John the Baptist gave the Regulation, established the awards – each award honors a personality culture goiana – and created the final format of the festival, among other measures.

As a project of the State Government, through the Agency of Goiás Culture (Agepel), was behind ambitious goals, such as enhancing the cinema, broadly discuss environmental issues, winning the title of World Heritage Site for the City of Goiás, move the cultural sector as a whole, generate wealth (like culture and information), jobs and promoting tourism.

Thanks to the support and involvement of its directors, all of these goals were achieved in less time than expected. Since its inception, the festival seeks to strengthen itself as the stage of discussions of environmental issues within a broader concept, which combines development with the best quality of life on the planet. In this respect, It opens space for discussions of sustainable development not only on screen but with workshops, roundtables, lectures and other activities that lead to broader approach to environmental issues. By this line of action also seeks to increase awareness about the best man / nature.

The Stay, what happens in the City of Goiás, cultural cradle of the state, acquired strength and independence, marking it as one of the most important events in world cinema calendar. Since the first edition, the festival has described a trajectory of growth and consolidation. One cause of this rise is the fact of having the largest awards of its kind in Latin America: U.S. $ 250 000 in prizes.
